Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi, has handed head coach Gernot Rohr a major selection boost ahead of their quarter-final clash against Bafana Bafana,

Mikel, who was a doubt for the rest of the competition due to a knee injury, took part in light training during the team’s recovery session on Sunday morning.

The 32 year-old last played in the group stages, against Madagascar.

He played for just under an hour before he was substituted for Alex Iwobi; Nigeria eventually lost 2-0 to the Barea.
