Ahead of Nigeria’s friendly match against the Portugal, head Coach Jose Peseiro has stressed that the team will go all out to beat the former European champions in what would be the latter’s tune up game ahead of the FIFA World Cup.

The friendly will be played at the Jose Alvalade stadium the 50,000 capacity stadium of Sporting Lisbon, and tickets are sold out, but Cristiano Ronaldo may not play any part.

Previewing the game, Jose Peseiro noted that the game would be played in preparation for the AFCON qualifiers and sees it as a perfect test for the Super Eagles.

“We would have loved to play against Portugal at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar on 24 (November) in an opening game of the group stage,” Peseiro told NFF TV.

“But now Portugal will play Ghana. Nigeria deserved to play at the World Cup.”

“This is a friendly match, we want to do our maximum and beat Portugal, but it won’t be easy,” the Coach said.

“We will show our individual and collective qualities and want to improve against big national team.

“We will defend the national shirt by giving our best.”
