The playing surface of the MKO Abiola Stadium has been one of the talking points from Nigeria’s game this international break, and the latest criticism has come from Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro.

The Eagles lost to Guinea-Bissau at the MKO Abiola Stadium last weekend and Peseiro identified the pitch as one of the reasons for his team’s struggles.

Bumpy, dry with patches all over, the recently relayed green surface made play difficult and frustrated Peseiro’s team and his strategy, the 62 year-old explained.

Nigeria secured a come back win in the return leg of the group A tie, at the Estádio 24 de Setembro.

Speaking after the encounter in Bissau, the Coach said that, “Our team is much better than Guinea.”

“We created many opportunities, the pitch was much better than in Abuja, but you know I want to play an offensive game; everytime people complain that before we don’t play from the back and emphasis on an offensive Midfield.

“Now we worked on our development and organisation with an offensive process.”
