Super Eagles Coach clears Air on Mikel Obi’s International Future

Mikel Obi may still be the central figure in the Super Eagles under the guidance of Gernot Rohr and the captain definitely in consideration at some point in the future, but for the now the team is doing well without him.

Mikel has not played any of Nigeria’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches and was excused for the more recent ones against Libya; and the team has won the first-leg 4-0.

 

Speaking with footballlive.ng goalkeeper trainer Alloy Agu, pushed back on suggestions the team is moving on without its captain.

 

The trio of Wilfred Ndidi, Oghenekaro Etebo and Alex Iwobi were picked by Gernot Rohr for the first-leg tie against Libya in Uyo; with Iwobi fitted in the captain’s playing role.

 

Agu gave the midfield set up on Saturday a pass mark and suggests; going into the second-leg, the Coaches and players expect a more difficult game in Sfax.

 

He said the Libyan will be seeking to redeem their pride after the defeat in Uyo and will the stakes even more dire, the North Africans will not be underrated.

 

The Super Eagles flew out of the country from Uyo, headed to the North of the continent ahead of the second of the double header clash.

 

Libya and Nigeria will face off in Sfax at the Stade Taïeb Mhiri on Tuesday, 16th October.
