Following Napoli’s 2-1 triumph over Sporting de Braga in their Champions League opener on Wednesday night, Victor Osimhen expressed his surprise at not scoring against the Portuguese team.

Osimhen has now endured a three-game scoreless streak, failing to find the net in consecutive matches against Lazio, Genoa, and Sporting de Braga, despite scoring three goals in his first two games of the campaign.

Nevertheless, he was thrilled to contribute to their victory in the Champions League opener.

Despite not finding the back of the net for Napoli he was adjudged to be the player of the match by UEFA’s Technical Observer Panel.

“It’s strange to end a game without scoring. I’m a striker and strikers live for goals, but it’s not something that bothers me too much because it’s already happened and I’m prepared for it,” Osimhen was quoted by UEFA’s official website.

“It’s not just with goals that you help the team and I’m always ready to help in other ways.”
