Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo suffered head injury in Rangers’ 1-0 win over Livingston in Wednesday’s Scottish League Cup fixture.
Aribo returned to the starting eleven for Rangers, but his night was over in 23 minutes, after Livingston’s Ricki Lamie caught him with an elbow, which left the Nigerian bleeding heavily.
The former Charlton Athletic midfielder was replaced by Steven Davis, as he was unable to continue, and needed about 20 stitches.
“I think he’s ok, he’s got nasty gash on his head which was stitched up. He was on the end of a bad one there,” Rangers Manager Steven Gerrard said after the game.
“But Joe’s a tough lad, I’m sure he’ll get on with I’m not sure whether it’ll affect him in the coming games, we’ll have to assess that Tomorrow.
“He himself wanted to play on that’s the kid, that’s the character he’s a tough lad and he hasn’t complained he just going to get on with it.”
The injury could come as a big blow to Super Eagles manager who’s banking on the player for October 13th International friendly match with Samba boys of Brazil in Singapore.
Aribo made his International debut and scored a goal in the Super Eagles’ 2-2 draw against Ukraine in Dnipro last month.
