Standard Liege in tue frame for red hot Spezia striker David Okekere, reports Footballlive.ng.

Date:

Standard Liege have reportedly joined the race to sign Spezia striker David Okereke during the January transfer window.

Okereke has scored 5 goals in 13 appearances for Spezia so far this season in the Italian Serie B.

The 21-year-old’s form is understood to have attracted interest from around Europe, with Eintracht Frankfurt and Eibar having also been linked with a move.

The Belgian giants are now thought to have joined the race too and are weighing up an offer offer in January as Michel Preud’homme looks to increase the competition for attacking positions beyond Renaud Emond, Orlando Sa and Maxime Lestienne.

Okereke’s contract with Spezia does not expire until 2022, but the Italian outfit may find it difficult to prevent the player pushing for an exit if a club of Standard Liege’s calibre come knocking.
