Remo Stars striker, Sikiru Alimi has expressed pride in Remo Stars’ 2-1 defeat of NPFL new boys, Sporting Lagos at the Ikenne Stadium.
Alimi acknowledged that it was a difficult game as Sporting Lagos came into the match to prove their mettle.
He also dismissed the talks of a growing rivalry between the two team but admitted that in few years to come, they will be rubbing shoulders with the big boys in the league.
“Well, first of all I want to say Alhamdulillah. The win means so much because it’s a South West debut, a new one. And let me say the new cats, they came to prove a lot,” Alimi said in his post-match remarks. “And it was a very good shot. It was a very intense game and I give it to them.”
“I wouldn’t say it’s a rivalry perse because everybody knows they are just coming up onto the big stage, let me say with the big boys.
“They are trying to rock shoulder with the big boys and in a few years to come I think they can.”
