Spain Legend announces international retirement

Midfielder Sergio Busquets has announced his retirement from the Spanish National team.

Busquets ended his international career with La Roja on the low, crashing out in the round of 16 at the Qatar FIFA world cup.

Busquets, who was the only member from the 2010 World Cup winning squad captained Spain to this edition.

He made 143 appearances in the colours of Spain since making his international debut in 2008.

The midfield maestro has been a regular in the heart of La Roja’s Midfield and was a member of the golden generation that won the 2010 World Cup and the European Championship two years later.

“I would like to announce that after almost 15 years and 143 matches, the moment has arrived to bid farewell to the national team,” wrote the 34-year-old
