Aspirations of Nigerian football fans to cheer Arsenal youngster on Bukayo Saka on in the Green and White of the Eagles have been dashed following Thursday’s announcement the Wing back in England’s international matches this month.
Although Three Lions Boss Gareth Southgate alluded to the call up being more of a learning process for the 18 year-old, Saka, who is also eligible to represent Nigeria or Ghana at senior level, the youngster could feature in any of the games against any of Wales, Belgium or Denmark in the coming days.
In spite of the Arsenal academy graduate insisting he feels more Nigerian, he was quick to accept and acknowledge the invitation by Southgate to join the senior.
He tweeted: Honoured and grateful to get my first @england call up ! #Blessings Dizzy symbol

The decision to cap Saka appears a bit desperate as Southgate also seemed to propose, what’s obvious though is that he will get minutes either in the friendly against Wales or in the UEFA Nations League against either or both of Belgium and Denmark.
Southgate told the NT media that, “I talked a little bit about him last month and we felt it was a bit early and it probably is early for Bukayo but he is playing in an area of the pitch where we’ve not got great depth, we’re excited by what he has done there. And we think this is a good opportunity in this camp to have a look at him and for him to gain an understanding of how we work at senior level. So, yeah we’re excited by the potential there.
“We are think he can flourish as he gets older, and although he is very young, we’re happy to give young stars their chance.”
