Simy, Obi suffer Coppa Italia Elimination

Simy Nwankwo and Joel Obi were both second half substitutes for Salernitana in the Coppa Italia match against Genoa on Tuesday at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

The duo were brought on together in a double substitution by Salernitana boss Stefano Colantuono in the 65th minute.
Salernitana had reached the second round of the Cup at the expense of Reggina after a comfortable 2-0 victory back in August.
However, the Campania based club reached their bus-stop in the competition following the 1-0 defeat to Andriy Shevchenko’s side.
The only goal of the game was made in Africa, Sierra Leone’s Yayah Kallon’s cross connecting Ghana’s Caleb Ekuban who headed home in 76th minute to decide what had been an open contest.
Both sides registered similar goal attempts (9) and shots on target (6), occasions that saw the goalkeepers on either side raised their stocks.
Nonetheless, it was a bad day in the office for the Nigerian duo as their team are now winless in eight matches across all competitions.
