Super Falcons coach, Randy Waldrum has defended under fire Forward Ifeoma Onumonu after the team failed to reach the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final.

Nigeria lost 5-4 on penalties to Morocco, Onumonu missed her kick in the shout out after the sides played through 120 minutes with the game tied at 1-1.
The Super Falcons were reduced to 9 players in the encounter and the Falcons Coach left the Forward on through out the 120 minutes played though she was visibly exhausted.
Following the Team’s failed 10th title bid, Onumonu has come under huge criticism from a section of the fans for being wasteful and also caused the team from the missed penalty.
Waldrum said that, ‘Onumonu was stranded a lot into the game without no support coming her way.
‘In the past three games, she was the most effective forward We have. Moving forward, We will have to look for ways to get her more support because she has been very good for the team in the tournament so far.’
On Friday, Nigeria will now face Zambia in the third place match of the WAFCON 2022, at the Stade Mohammed V.
