Senegal clinched the Africa Cup of Nations title defeating Egypt 4-2 on penalties in the final of the tournament at the Olembe Stadium in Yaoundé on Sunday.
Sadio Mane, who had previously missed a penalty in regulation time, converted Senegal’s final kick, beating Mohamed Abou Gabal, who had been brilliant in the game.
Gabaski made several saves in the game denying the Teranga Lions, including an early penalty.
Senegal won their first AFCON title after previously reaching the final in 2002 and 2019.
The winning coach Aliou Cisse was voted Manager of the tournament while Mane and compatriot Edouard Mendy were voted Player of the tournament and best goalkeeper of the tournament.
Cameroon Forward, Vincent Aboubakar won the tournament’s top scorer.
