Idrissa Gueye says he was motivated to lead Senegal to victory against Nigeria on Sunday when the sides clashed in an international friendly.
Gueye’s first half strike was enough to earn the Teranga Lions a 1-0 over Nigeria, ending a 17-year winless streak against the Super Eagles.
In his post match remark, the stand-in captain said, “With the captain’s armband, I knew how to set a good example. I’m happy to have scored.”
The friendly was the Countries final preparatory game before the Africa Nations Cup which gets underway this weekend in Egypt.

Both coaches reached a pre-match agreement for the friendly to be played behind closed doors.
