SA’s Player of the Year! Lorch’s goal knock Egypt out of AFCON, Bafana next Face Super Eagles

Thembinkosi Lorch netted an 85th minute winner as South Africa pulled a stunning 1-0 victory over Africa Cup of Nations host Egypt.

Forward Lebo Mothiba set up Lorch, who thrust the dagger into the Pharaohs as Bafana Bafana reached the quarter-finals for the sixth time in their history.

 

The win means South Africa will now face Nigeria in the last eight, the latter sent holders Cameroon packing following a 3-2 win earlier in Alexandria.

 

On June 10, inside the Cairo International Stadium, it will be the third meeting between the teams since the inception of the competition; Nigeria won the previous two.
