Sand Eagles player Emeka Ogbonna has revealed that the team is prepared and anticipates the forthcoming 2019 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Paraguay.
“Everybody is prepared as we do not plan to just attend to make up the numbers, but to play and play very well so as to give a good account of ourselves and show the World that Nigeria is a force to reckon with in Beach soccer,” Ogbonna told footballlive.ng.
Despite the world cup still months away, Emeka Ogbonna called on the ministry of youth and sports as well as the football association body to help the team achieve their goal at the Beach soccer world cup by making plans upfront for the team to train.
” We’re preparing on our own as we hope and pray to get an early camping exercise, we are asking the Ministry and NFF, to arrange friendly matches for proper preparations so we can show the development we’ve attained in Beach soccer.”
Ogbonna also shared expressed optimism about the team’s chances of improving on their previous performances in the competition.
Nigeria reached the quarter-finals of the FIFA Beach Soccer tournaments in 2007 and 2011.
The Country will be making its 6th appearance at the tournament which kicks off from 21st November- 1st December.
