Nigerian stars Samuel Chukwueze and Kelechi Iheanacho’s drop in form played a key role in them not being called up to the Super Eagles camp ahead of the dead rubber Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles and an international friendly against Egypt both in Asaba later this month.

Kelechi Iheanacho has found life at the Kingpower Stadium difficult this season scoring just once and providing five assists in a total of 25 league matches for the foxes amassing a total of 888 minutes.

The former Manchester City star has been reduced to substitute positions this season after his goal returns dropped.

Meanwhile, in Spain Nigerian youngster Samuel Chukwueze has been reduced to substitute roles in 2019 falling short of the earlier expectation that led to his invitation to the national team in 2018.

The former U-17 star recently lost his place to Cameroonian Karl Tako-Ekambi as Villareal continues to struggle to avoid the drop.

Head coach of the team Gernot Rohr had recently stated that only players who are fit and in form would be invited to the national team ahead of the dead rubber fixture against Seychelles and friendly against Egypt.

With their current form, the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho, Isaac Success and Samuel Chukwueze are all in danger of missing the 2019 AFCON in Egypt as fans have continued to clamor for the inclusion of other potent players including the likes of Taiwo Awoniyi and Chuba Akpom.
