Samuel Chukwueze scored in Villarreal’s 4-2 defeat away from home to Mallorca in LaLiga on Saturday.
Chukwueze, who was making his 21st league appearance in the league this season, scored to restore parity.
However, playing with a man down after the sending off of Manu Trigueros in the 21st minute, Mallorca did well to capitalize on the numerical advantage.
Goals from Daniel Rodriguez (45′,56′) and Vedat Muriqi (63′)helped the home side restore their lead and sent them on their way to victory.
The defeat means Quique Setien’s side are now winless in four games – lost in all four – and they have dropped to 9th in the standings, putting their European football aspirations next season in jeopardy.
Meanwhile, for Samuel Chukwueze, it was only his second goal in LaLiga this term.
The Winger last scored in December 2022 when Villarreal pipped Valencia 2-1.
On Saturday, the 22 year-old was on for just over an hour as he made way for 21 year-old Spanish midfielder, Alex Baena, who is on loan Girona.
Next up for Villarreal is a home game against Getafe in LaLiga on February 27.
