Forward Umar Sadiq is slowly coming back from the career-threatening injury he suffered with Real Sociedad last season and made his official debut in the UEFA Champions League.

Sadiq came off the bench in the 72nd minute for Mikel Oyarzabal against Inter Milan, on his UCL debut.

Last season’s finalist, Inter Milan, grabbed a late equalizer to leave the San Sebastian stadium with a point.

The 2023/24 season is the fifth time Sociedad is competing in the UEFA Champions League.

Unfortunately, Sadiq could not make an impact in the 19 minutes that he was on and had to watch as Lautaro Martinez bundle in an equalizer in the 87th minute to cancel out Brais Mendez’s 4th-minute opener.

In a match that went against the script on Wednesday, Real Sociedad dominated proceedings and could have blown Inter away if not for some poor finishing.

The Spanish side registered 5 shots on target from 13 attempts and limited Inter to only one shot on target, which unfortunately was the equalizer.

Since his return from injury, Sadiq Umar has participated in all six games played so far by La Real this season, albeit from the bench.

He will be hoping to convince coach Alguacil Imanol that he deserves to start games for Real Sociedad.
