Sadiq Umar’s Partizan Belgrade have crashed out of the Europa League after a 2-2 draw against AZ Alkmaar, Thursday.
Sadiq and his teammates went into the game at the Cars Jeans Stadium in Holland knowing a win would put them in contention for the next round.
And they started pretty well racing into the lead inside the opening 16 minutes through Takuma Asano’s effort and made it 2-0 via Seydouba Soumah’s strike in the 30th minute.
Early in the second half, Partizan had chances to kill the game as they were dominating possession with Sadiq Umar being denied.
AZ Alkmaar pushed forward and despite having a man sent off, Ferdy Druijf’s brace deep into the stoppage squashed the hopes of Savo Milošević’s side.
The draw means Partizan are third in Group L with five points while AZ Alkmaar sit second with nine points with Man United(first) and Astana(fourth)having ten and three points respectively.
The 22-year-old Sadiq who had four shots, 52.9% passing accuracy and a total of 36 touches played the entirety of the match.
