Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr admitted that he expected a very difficult game against Seychelles in their 3-1 win at the Stephen Keshi Stadium on Friday.
The victory ensured that the Super Eagles of Nigeria finished on top of the Group E African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers with 13 points.
Odion Ighalo converted a penalty to give Nigeria the lead in the 35th minute but Roddy Melanie drew Seychelles level seven minutes later following a costly mistake from goalkeeper Francis Uzoho.
However, Galatasaray’s Henry Onyekuru headed home in the 52nd minute and Levante’s Moses Simon also scored in stoppage time to give Nigeria their fourth win in six games.
“We knew that it will be very difficult. It was a completely different Seychelles team,” Rohr admitted at a Press Conference attended by Footballlive.ng.
“They (Seychelles) started preparation very early in March. The coach included seven new players in the line up. My players knew it will be a difficult game.
