Kelechi Iheanacho can work his way back into the Super Eagles with his current form at club level, assistant Coach Imama Amapakabo has told footballlive.ng.

Iheanacho was dropped from Nigeria’s team to the AFCON 2019 campaign, but the striker has been in fine form for Leicester City through pre-season.

According to the Eagles Coach, the young forward is now in contention to return for the 2021 AFCON qualifiers.

‘We have new competitions lined up; we have the Nations cup qualifiers and the World cup qualifiers. It’s a new season for Kelechi and we are glad that whatever his problems were, he has found an answer at club level,’ Imama explained.

‘Kelechi has always been a member of the Eagles team despite the fact that, he was selected for the AFCON in Egypt.

‘We are wishing him the very best, hopefully, he continues with this form of his and he’ll be back in the team in no time, when players are called up for our next matches.’
