FC Robo Queens owner Osahon Emmanuel has downplayed the agitations of football fans across the country about the snub of the Barcelona Femeni forward, Asisat Oshoala in FIFPro Women’s World XI despite her achievements with her Liga F team.
Oshoala’s Barcelona teammate, Alexia Putellas was voted The Best Women’s Player of the Year on the back of an outstanding 2022.
Emmanuel Osahon noted that the snub of Oshoala must down to her failing to meet a set of yardsticks.
“It is all about criteria, people who select have a yardstick with which they select and we have to look at it from that angle.
“It’s not a matter of whether she should be there or not, I believe if she is meant to be there, then she will,” he told FL.
“She won the best African Women’s player of the year about 5 times, there was a criteria that was used to pick her, and she won. If she is not being selected or even being recognized for the award, then it could be that she did not meet up with the criteria, and you know Asisat has been on and off based on injury, which could prove to be a setback to her chances.”
This season, Asisat Oshoala has so far scored 18 league goals in as many games for Barcelona.
She scored 20 goals in 19 league games last season and was voted African Best, she also got nominated for Balon d’Or last season as a reward for an outstanding season she had with her club.
