Rivers United technical Advisor, Stanley Eguma acknowledged that the victory against Sunshine Stars was hard fought and deserved.

The NPFL defending Champions edged Sunshine Stars 1-0 in a rescheduled league game at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Monday.

The win also confirmed Rivers United’s place in the post season, Playoff tournament and keeps them on course for the title defence.

After the game, Eguma said:

“It was a tough game and we expected it because Sunshine Stars was also eyeing the Super Six play-off, and they played hard but the game was under our control.

“We pressed them from the beginning and we got our goal even though the referee disallowed one of our goals, it would have been more than a goal.”

“The players did very well but Sunshine Stars were just lucky, it would have been dozens of goals, I commended the players.”
