Rivers United striker Nyima Nwangua has spoken on his team’s chances of going all the way in the CAF Confederation Cup after going top of their group following the victory against Motema Pembe.

After losing the first game away to Diables Noirs, Rivers United bounced back by defeating ASEC Mimosas 3-0, before snatching all three points against Motema Pembe, despite playing the majority of the encounter with 10 men following Ebube Duru’s red card.

According to pre-tournament predictions, the Nigerian Champions were consider favorites to emerge from the group, and Nwangua has maintained that they will not be distracted and will approach the competition game after game.

“We take each game as they come; we have focus and we don’t want to be distracted, yeah every body will tell you that they want to win the tournament, but, I am actually telling you that we want to win each game we play and that is our focus; it’s our determination.

“We were determined to win, so we kept to our game plan we didn’t allow the red card change our plans. We talked to ourselves and decided to manage the game properly and at the end of the day we got it right.”
