Nigerian teams will compete in the preliminary round of the CAF champions League, with Rivers United facing Watanga of Liberia, while Plateau United will face Gabonese side AS Stade Mandji.

Remo Stars and Kwara United will both compete in the Confederation Cup and will face ASFAR of Morocco and AS Douanes of Niger, respectively.
Speaking with FL, Coach Fatai Amoo believes that the Nigerian teams will definitely make progress in the qualifiers.
‘A team like Rivers United has plenty of experience to go through to the group stage, but they have to do their due diligence and ensure that they aim for an advantage heading to the second leg,’ Amoo stressed.
The former Shooting Stars SC Coach also spoke about the quality of the Nigerian Professional Football league among other African Leagues.
‘The Nigerian league is far behind and have experienced a bit of a backslide and a lot needs be done structurally.
‘We watch leagues on TV, but ours have largely lacked such visibility and this kind of exposure is what our teams and Players need.’
