Former Super Falcons captain Rita Chikwelu has quelled rumours she could call time on her footballing career, after the midfielder was left out of the team for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games qualifier against Ivory Coast.
Chikwelu, who has 33 caps for Nigeria and two 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations title, last featured for Nigeria at the World Cup in France.
“Two or three years to come I still see myself playing, when you are playing you watch your body; if the body gives you signs then you pay attention, if my body gives me that sign then I’ll quit, but once you’re fit you don’t need to quit,” She told footballlive.ng.
Nigeria play the third round, first-leg tie of the 2020 CAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Abidjan on September 30.
The Falcons midfielder is backing the team to go all the way and pick a ticket for a fourth appearance in the Olympic.
