Chidozie Awaziem and his Hajduk Split teammates heaved a sigh of relief as the team got back to winning ways in the league following the 4-1 victory over Varazdin on Saturday.
Awaziem featured for the entire duration as The Whites dominated the hosts and ended a two-game losing run.
Varazin played with a man down from the 56th minute after Agon Elezi was shown a straight red, and with the scoreline tied at 1-1.
Hajduk Split had taken the lead in the 47th minute, but the hosts leveled three minutes later.
After the sending off, Varazin’s defenses could barely hold off their opponent’s constant attack and in the final twenty minutes of the game, coupled with a double substitution, the breakthrough came.
Three goals in the space of 14 minutes finally gave Hajduk Split their first win in three games.
Meanwhile, the game was Chidozie Awaziem’s 17th appearance in the league – the CB who is on loan from Boavista has 4goals to his name.
He did pick up a yellow card in the match, his 7th total so far this season.
Next up for him and his teammates is a matchday 22 fixture against bottom placed Gorica, next Sunday.
