RC Lens, LOSC Lille Scramble for KAA Gent’s Orban

According to the French website FootMercato, RC Lens and LOSC Lille will compete to recruit Nigerian striker Gift Orban from KAA Gent in the summer.

Orban, 20, has been a top performer since joining KAA Gent for €3.5 million from the Norwegian club Stabaek in January.

 

The Youngster’s remarkable performance saw him score 20 goals and provide two assists in 22 games for Gent, advancing them to the league playoffs where he scored six goals in six contests.

His impressive performances have seen him linked with heavyweight clubs across Europe including Spanish giants Barcelona.

Reports from France have however indicated that last season’s surprise team, Lens, that finished second on the Ligue Un table and will play in the UEFA Champions League next season.

LOSC Lille have also been reported to be keen to add the explosive Nigerian to their ranks.

“A true revelation of the Belgian championship in just six months, Nigerian striker Gift Orban could well discover Ligue 1 this summer.

“Indeed, two European clubs and rivals will jostle to try to afford his services, Lille and Lens,” the website informed.

Gent is willing to sell the Nigerian and will consider bids around €20 million for the player.
