Forgotten Super Eagles midfielder Ramon Azeez was on target in Granada’s 2-0 victory over Barcelona at the Nuevo Los Carmenes stadium on Saturday night.
Granada spent the last two seasons outside Spain’s top flight and despite tickets being priced at €110 the stadium was full to capacity and rocking from kick-off to the final whistle, the atmosphere boosted by Azeez’s two minutes goal.
The hosts, who had only beaten Barca once in their last 20 meetings, took an early lead when Ramon Azeez headed home from close range to make it 1-0 in just the second minute to send the fans into wild jubilation.
The Champions responded by introducing introduced Lionel Messi and Ansu Fati early in the second half, as they tried to crawl their way back into the game.
However Granada would score again when Arturo Vidal was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the 18 yard box, consultation with VAR confirmed the ruling and Alvaro Vadillo made no mistake to fire past Ter Stegen in Barcelona’s goal.
Granada are currently on top the standing with 10 points from Five matches, while Barcelona who has failed to win any of their last seven away from are 7th with 7 points.
