The French Football Federation risks public backlash from a section of fans this weekend should Clubs adhere to its prohibition of breaks during games for Muslim players to end their fast as is customary in Islam.

The Federation is already receiving opposition to the policy, which it sent via email to all club, which states:

“Football does not take into account the political, religious, ideological, or syndical [trade unions] considerations of its actors”

However, just across the Channel, the English FA voted to allow Referees interrupt matches to allow Muslim Players observe the religious rite.

In his pre-match Presser, OGC Nice coach Didier Digard, berated the FFF’s decision.

“We support them as best as possible and they are closely monitored in terms of food of hydration.

“They do it out of conviction and it makes things a lot easier. We don’t ask them any question.

“We judge players on their performances, not according to whether they fast or not.“

Meanwhile, Digard gave his squad update ahead of Sunday’s trip to Angers, and at least Terem Moffi is fit to play.

Moffi was not named in the squad for Nice’s Ligue1 game before the break, but the Striker has been in good form for the team.

He has scored three times in six appearances in the league for OGC Nice – 15 goals and 2 assists in total.
