Algerian football legend, Rabah Madjer, has taken a swipe at Cameroon football federation president, Samuel Eto’o, over the latter’s pre-tournament prediction that the Indomitable Lions will win the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Eto’o had argued that it was finally the right time for the continent to produce its first winner.
The FECAFOOT boss tipped his country to reach the final alongside fellow African team, Morocco.
With one game to the end of the group stage, Cameroon must beat Brazil to make it to the knockout stages, having roared back from a 3-1 deficit to draw 3-3 against Switzerland.
Madjer, during a television interview revealed that he is anxiously waiting to see how the Indomitable Lions survive crashing out and winning the World Cup.
“What Eto’o said is his own. If he is convinced that Cameroon will win the World Cup, why not! It will be the first African team to win this competition,” said the former Algeria coach – while laughing with his host.
The latter confident that he thinks Song’s players will go out in the first round.
“Will Cameroon perform miracles by beating Brazil, like Saudi Arabia did with Argentina? We will see, everything is possible in football,” Madjer said.
Switzerland forward, Xherdan Shaqiri has warned his teammates, ahead of their crunch World Cup round of 16 match against Portugal, that it would be a big mistake write off Cristiano Ronaldo.
