Plateau United have to beat Stade Mandji in Abuja – Golbe Elisha

Plateau United defender, Golbe Elisha has urged his teammates to go for the win in this weekend’s return-leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round match against Stade Mandji.

The NPFL side were held to a 2-2 draw, despite taking the lead on both occasions.

Goals from Onyebuchi Ifeanyi and Mohammed Zulkifilu put Plateau United in the lead, but, they were pegged back twice to eventually settle for a share of the spoils.

In a chat with FL, Golbe said that the result against Stade Mandji was a good one and they are encouraged.

The Plateau United captain also highlighted the need to win in Nigeria, as it all but guarantees their progress to the next round of the competition.

“It was a massive performance, everybody gave the best they could, coupled with the fact that we played away,” said Golbe.

“It’s a CAF competition the players did the best they could. It’s not a disappointing result, what is left is for us to fix ourselves and ensure that when they arrive Abuja, we grab the maximum points to qualify for the next round; we have to push harder to make sure we get the maximum point in Nigeria.”

Golbe Elisha also believes that they are better prepared to face the Gabonese side, claiming that they are now familiar with the opposition and they have a better understanding of what to expect from them.

He also said that he expects massive support at the MKO Abiola stadium in Abuja, as the venue is away from Plateau’s home ground in Jos.

The Player hopes for a massive turn out at the MKO Stadium, and urged supporters to back the team because by creating an electric atmosphere in Abuja on Sunday.
