Nigeria’s Men National Team will play differently and look a different outfit from what they were under past Coaches as the new handler, Jose Peseiro has hinted emphasis will be on speed of play and more cohesion in his tactics.

Peseiro took charge of the team’s practice session for the first time, Thursday, with the first of two friendly matches coming up Saturday.
The Super Eagles trainer described that he saw “enthusiasm” and “will” in the Players’ response despite the obvious fatigue from the long travel to Dallas for most.
“It’s a pleasure for me to start to work Today (Thursday) – because they’ve started before – in the training, to practice with the national team and to start the first steps of the AFCON,” the 62 year-old trainer said in his first public interview since his appointment.
“I’m happy because these guys although tired; the trip was long, but they showed enthusiasm and motivation. They trained with happiness and showed will.”
Nigeria’s last AFCON appearance ended in a disappointing second round ouster, but the team will redeem itself at the next edition, in Ivory Coast.
Peseiro reiterated that the focus of his team is to qualify and eventually win the AFCON title, but insists the necessary steps are being taken.
“Of course they know to reach the AFCON; because we want to win the AFCON and though it’s in 2023, we must start work on our speed and our cohesion. The guys were fantastic in training,” the Portuguese concluded.
