In a major career move, Nigerian defender Nicole Payne has inked a lucrative three-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain women’s team.

Payne successfully completed her medicals, sealing her first-ever professional switch to a European club after graduating from West Virginia University earlier this year.

During her three seasons at the American university, she showcased her prowess, making 53 appearances and netting four goals.

Prior to making two senior appearances for Nigeria in 2021, the full-back had an impressive international career with the USA.

She represented the United States WNT at various youth levels, starting from U15, U16, U17, and U18.

However, following her sister, Toni’s, footsteps, she ultimately decided to don the green and white of Nigeria at senior level.

“Signing at Paris Saint-Germain, it’s something I’ve always dreamed of!,” she told the club website.

“Became a professional player as a teenager, grew up playing soccer since I was four, so having a moment like this is very special. I am very grateful to be here.”

Last year in Morocco, Nicole Payne and her sister Toni made history with Nigeria as they both started in a Women’s Africa Cup of Nations match for the Super Falcons, becoming the first sisters to achieve this milestone.
