After allaying fears over the injury scare to forward Victor Osimhen in their last Serie A outing, Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti named him in the squad to face Frankfurt in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League round of 16, first-leg clash.
Osimhen has only featured three times in the UCL this season owing to an injury he suffered early on in the season – in the opening group game against Liverpool.
He returned in October after a month on the side lines, and he scored his only goal in the group stages in Napoli’s to 4-2 victory against Ajax.
The Striker’s form in the competition is a sharp contrast from what he’s been able to do for Napoli in the Serie A.
He’s the League’s top scorer with 18goals and 3assists in 19appearances, and has scored in his last 7 games.
About the 24 year-old’s fittness, Spalletti said, “In terms of maturity, I can mention Osimhen’s example. As soon as he felt a little problem with Sassuolo, he evaluated correctly, asking for a substitution.
“This is a player who can make the correct assessment.”
