Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen has eulogized Club icon, Diego Maradona, and cited that even if the Partenopei end up winning the Serie A this season, it will be nothing to compared to what of the Argentine achieved.

Osimhen has been in such imperious form for Napoli this term, netting 19 goals in 21 league appearances.

However the 24 year-old admits if the team wins the league title this season, it will be nothing compared to what Maradona did in the city of Napoli.

An Icon in Naples, Diego Maradona brought the club into reckoning in Italian football between 1984 and 1991, after he arrived the club from Barcelona.

In 1990, He guided Napoli to its last Italian league title as well as the UEFA Cup, Coppa Italia, and Supercoppa Italiana.

Maradona was also named the 1985 Serie A player of the year and managed to end the 1987–88 Coppa Italia season as the competition’s leading scorer.

“In Napoli, the first player who comes to mind of the fans is (Diego) Maradona. Even if we can win the Scudetto, we can’t compare with what Maradona has done, he’s more than a legend,” Osimhen admits.

“We’ve been doing quite well, but I don’t consider myself as an icon, until we achieve the objective.

“As a footballer, when you arrive in Napoli you fall in love even more with football, because they base all their life on the game and the support for the team.

“To be able to try to give them something to remember is a big mission for me,” He said.
