Nigeria strolled to a comfortable 6-0 victory against Sao Tome and Principe in the final game of their Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, and secured the top spot in group A.

Victor Osimhen personally enjoyed a game to remember as he scored a hat-trick bringing his tally in the qualifiers to 10 goals in 6 games.

Osimhen opened the scoring in the 13th minute before Ademola Lookman doubled the tally in the 27th minute for Nigeria.

In the second half, the goals continued to come, with in-form Taiwo Awoniyi getting Nigeria’s third in the 51st minute from a Kelechi Iheanacho assist.

Osimhen scored his second from the penalty spot in the 69th minute before completing his hat-trick 10 minutes later.

Samuel Chukwueze, who already had an assist – for Osimhen’s third goal – wrapped up the victory with the sixth and final goal of the encounter.

The win means that Nigeria wraps up group A in first position with 15 points.
