Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen missed a late penalty but Lille held on to beat Montpellier in a Ligue 1 game on Friday night.
Osimhen, who was on target last week against Brest was on parade for the entire duration after he was rested in the Champions league defeat to Chelsea.
The 20 year-old forward won a penalty that was converted by Jonathan Ikone in the 40th minute to put the Christopher Galtier’s men ahead.
Montpellier drew level in the 69th minute, thanks to Andy Delort who scored with a fantastic strike.
Lille regained the lead in the 84th minute, with former Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches the scorer and his goal sealed the win for Lille.
There was still time for the third, when Lille were awarded a 90th minute penalty, but Osimhen, who has 100 percent records for Club and Country from six yard failed to convert the penalty this time.
Lille have now won four consecutive Ligue 1 games this season and are third on 31 points in the league table.
