Osimhen Locked up and Grilled for Three Days just to Reject Liverpool

Napoli Sporting Director, Cristiano Giuntoli played an important role in obtaining the signature of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, from Lille in 2020 amidst strong competition from Liverpool.

Several news outlets are quoting Giandomenico Costi, a former collaborator of Giuntoli, who revealed the lengths which Napoli went to beat other teams to the signing of Osimhen.

 

Costi mentioned, in the intriguing behind the scenes story how the Napoli director locked Osimhen inside an hotel for three days, to convinced him to reject – in particular – Liverpool’s offer.

Very similar to what Chelsea did with John Mikel Obi when they were locked in a transfer battle with Manchester United for the Midfielder.

Giuntoli eventually did achieve his goal by engaging the Player in deep and extensive conversations and negotiations.

The successful acquisition of Osimhen proved to be an important move for Napoli, as the Forward played an important role in the Club lifting their first Serie A title in 33 years.

Now, the Striker in being monitored by the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea.
