Victor Osimhen was offered the highest salary in Napoli’s history in the new deal presented by the club.
Osimhen is two years from becoming a free agent and is yet to agree a new deal with Napoli amidst interests from several top European clubs.
In the last transfer window, Premier League sides Manchester United and Chelsea were actively interested in the Nigeria International, but Napoli were not willing to listen to offers.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the most recent attempt to have the 22 year-old commit his future to Gli Azzurri included a significant salary increase, “the biggest in the club’s history”.
Last week news Chairman, Aurelio De Laurentiis claimed there was a verbal agreement between the parties on a new deal, but no progress has been made since.
Meanwhile, in the latest concerning the 24 year-old’s future, Fabrizio Romano reports that no deal was agreed with Liverpool as widely reported, but insists Chelsea still have strong interests in the Forward.
