Asisat Oshoala was one of few FC Barcelona players who featured as models for the Club’s new home kit for the 2022/23 season, which commemorates the 30th anniversary of the City hosting the Olympic Games.
Barcelona rolled out the kits for sale, Friday, and explained the inspiration behind the design and choice of colors for the home kits – The tagged Flames Live On.
Ansu Fati, Oshoala, Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong to name a few, were the players of the Men’s and Women’s first teams who featured in the unveiling.
In keeping with the campaign to make the recycle waste and keep the Earth clean, the jerseys are also made out of recycled plastic bottles.
In a club statement on its website, the Catalan Club explained that:
FC Barcelona is showcasing an innovative, yet simple and elegant kit for the 2022/23 season, inspired by the Barcelona Olympics in the year that the city is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the transformation.
The new kit that players will wear on the pitch and the replica jerseys for the fans are constructed with 100 percent recycled polyester fabric, which is made from recycled plastic bottles.
The design of home strip evokes the new light introduced to the city of Barcelona with the creation of new spaces and most especially new connections to the sea, an idea that is represented by the different coloured stripes on the shirt, where red alternates with two different shades of blue, one navy and the other lighter. The same navy blue also features on the collar, sleeves, shorts, and socks.
