Gift Orban was in good form as he netted a hat-trick in Gent’s UEFA Europa Conference League 3-2 win over Breidablik.

In a keenly contested encounter, Orban who has had difficulties in recent times only needed six minutes into the game to announce himself as an authority.

The match started with Gent taking an early lead as Pieter Gerkens provided a precise cross that allowed Orban to score with a looping header in the sixth minute.

Breiðablik, however, showed resilience and quickly leveled the score with two goals from Jason Daði Svanþórsson after Gent’s defense faltered.

Before halftime, Breiðablik took the lead with Jason Svanthorsson completing his brace after Paul Nardi spilled a shot from Gísli Eyjólfsson.

Gent managed to regroup, and Orban equalized with a penalty, calmly sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.

The Belgian side’s determination paid off as Tarik Tissoudali, a substitute, set up Orban for his third goal, securing a 3-2 lead.

Victory propelled Gent to the top of Group B with 10 points, positioning them well for the knockout rounds.

On the other hand, Breiðablik faced their fourth consecutive defeat in the Europa Conference League group stage, confirming their elimination with two matches remaining.
