Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has disclosed that he is looking closer at FC Midtjylland of Denmark towering striker, Paul Onuachu because he sees the lad as someone who can add extra depths and profiles to the Nigerian national team.
While also noting Onuachu’s immense physical attributes, as he stands tall above two metres, the Franco-German gaffer further affirmed that the FC Ebedie of Sagamu, Ogun State product also brings a variety of options in attack.
Rohr is also counting on goals from Onuachu, who he hinted will get his Nigeria debut in Friday’s Africa Cup of Nations dead rubber final qualifier against Seychelles.
Onuachu is currently Nigeria’s leading goals scorer across all of Europe’s leagues so far this season, but Rohr admits he will still have to learn the ropes behind Odion Jude Ighalo, who is top netter in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Rohr expatiated: “We have Paul Onuachu, perhaps another possibility, he has a different profile.
“It is interesting to see him playing together with Ahmed Musa, Iwobi or Henry. Samuel Chukwueze is with the U23s.
”We have Ighalo already and we are very satisfied with what he’s doing since the World Cup.
”Paul Onuachu, he will play for at least 45 minutes or even more. We are searching for a player with his profile, he is more than two meters tall.”
