Super Eagles CB Kenneth Omeruo expressed his thoughts on the team’s victory over Sierra Leone in Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Sierra Leone.

Omeruo captained the Super Eagles in a very edgy encounter which Nigeria won 3-2; Victor Osimhen’s brace and a stoppage time winner from Kelechi Iheanacho put an end to the Leone Stars’ Cup of Nations aspirations.

In spite of the victory, Omeruo acknowledged the strength of their Opponent, and determination to get something out of the match.

“It was a difficult game; we knew they were going to fight because it is the only opportunity they have to qualify. But, I am happy we kept our head until the end, and we were able to win the game, so I am happy,” he said.

“Concentration is very important. The game would have died in the first half. There was a very clear penalty that was not given. That would have killed the game. But, still, we must always stay focused until the end.

“I am happy we could come back and secure the ticket.”
