Oliseh Cherishes Ajax’s Victory Over Real Madrid

Former Super Eagles captain and ex-head coach, Sunday Ogorchukwu Oliseh is celebrating the shock victory achieved by one of his heyday clubs, Ajax Amsterdam of Holland against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, footballlive.ng reports.

Oliseh, who played for Ajax from 1997 to 1999, before moving to star for Juventus of Italy and Borussia Dortmund of Germany, said he was both stunned and excited to see his former team take the UCL holders apart at their backyard in Spain on Tuesday.
All permutations had been on Los Blancos winning the second leg, haven won the first installment 2-1 in Amsterdam, but Oliseh says he was left positively shocked and amazed seeing Ajax snatch a largely unexpected 4-1 away win at Santiago Bernabeu.
Madrid, winners of the last three Champions Leagues, were sent tumbling out as Ajax hit Santi Solari’s men for four at the Bernabéu.
The last time that Ajax beat Real Madrid at the Bernabéu was in 1995 after a side that had Patrick Kluivert, Jari Litmanen and Frank Rijkaard, had won the European elite clubs’ title a few months prior in May.
Ajax were ruthless and clinical in the counter attack, allowing Madrid to attack and biding their time to take their chances on the break.
Former Southampton midfielder, Serbian Dusan Tadic was man of the match, as he provided the pass for Ajax’s first two early goals scored by Moroccan-born Hakim Ziyech (7’) and Brazilian David Neres (18’).
After setting up the first two goals in the first half, Matic got himself on the scoreboard on the 62nd minute with a stunning strike from distance driven into the top left corner.
Erik ten Hag’s side sealed their quarter-final ticket, putting the icing on the cake, when they got their fourth goal from Lasse Schone, whose free kick strike is a sure contender for goal of the tournament.
In reaction, ‘The Passmaster’ took to social media to celebrate with the Dutch champions, who had failed to make it beyond the group stage in over 20 years.
Oliseh posted: “Ajax Crush Real Madrid In style 4-1 in Madrid! Simply the Ajax we love: Dominant, technical, tactical, young and beautiful to watch.
“What a lesson of football. Particularly pleased for the boys. De jong & Tadic (World class), Ziyech, De Ligt, Blind, etc…. Take note of these names!”
