Ola Aina Enters Villarreal’s Transfer Radar

Date:

Chelsea full back, Ola Aina has found another piece added to the jigsaw puzzle that his summer loan transfer move is turning into, as Villarreal of Spain have entered the race to sign him from The Blues.

Villarreal have a strong tradition with Nigerian lads, dating back to the glorious days of Ikechukwu Uche in their team, while Samuel Chukwueze is also growing through their ranks, such that a move for Aina does not appear out of place.

The only snag The Yellow Submarine have is that Aina has attracted earlier summer options in England, Holland and Italy, with not less than five clubs already in the hunt for his services before Uche’s former team showed up.

Nonetheless, Villarreal have made a late attempt to sign Aina, barely 24 hours after PSV Eindhoven of Holland and Frosinone of Italy also signified interest in signing the Chelsea youngster on a season-long loan deal.

Before the duo joined the race, Aina had reportedly agreed to join another Italian team, AS Torino ahead of newly promoted Frosinone and The Maroons, who still have Joel Chukwuma Obi in their list, are hoping to conclude negotiations with Chelsea in the coming hours.

English Championship sides Queens Park Rangers, West Bromwich and Derby County also have interest in the 21-year-old dark-skinned defender, but it appears he wants to get a taste of action outside England this season.

Aina, who has been with Chelsea since joining them under age 11, impressed while on loan at Hull City last season, with 46 appearances in all competitions for The Tigers.
