Former Super Falcons Coach, Edwin Okon has congratulated the U17 women’s national team, Flamingos, on their impressive outing at this year’s FIFA World Cup after beating Germany via penalty shootouts.

Okon said it is a huge achievement for the girls, having become only the first medal winners in the history of Nigeria’s participation at the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.

The Bronze medal victory came despite surrendering a three-goal lead from the first half of the match, to winning 3-2 on penalties.

Edwin Okon, who led the Super Falcons to winning the 2014 African Women’s Championship and managed the Falcons to the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, advised that the group should be kept together.

He also suggested that they should plan for ahead so as to avoid fire brigade approach to things in the future.

The gaffer also suggested that a program be made available to manage them into other grades and subsequently into the senior national team in a way to get the maximum from them.
