Former African Footballer of The Year, Emmanuel Seyi Adebayor has paid homage to African football icon, Austin Jay-Jay Okocha and has, just like Asamoah Gyan, expressed shock at the snub of the Nigerian for the African Player of the Year award.

Okocha has been widely regarded as the most talented player to come out of the African continent, he is also considered to be one of the most gifted players the world has witnessed.

However, the football icon does not have much of individual awards to signify his more than obvious quality.

However, 2007 winner of the CAF African Player of The Year Award, Emmanuel Adebayor, has hailed the former PSG star as the most valuable player to have come out of the continent.

“Unfortunately, I found out when I actually stopped my career that he has never won the African Player of the Year. But don’t get me wrong, it has never taken anything out of the player that he is.

“When it comes to Africa, I think the most valuable player in our continent, I won it (The African Player of The Year), I think Yaya Toure won it (the award) maybe three or four times, but J.J. Okocha is way ahead of us.”
