Top teams in the Nigerian top-flight League are crossing all T’s and dotting all I’s to ensure a solid outing for the 2019 Ogunjobi Gold Cup.
The aim is to dethrone last year’s winner Sunshine stars of Akure when the tournament takes centre stage from Thursday August 29 through Saturday September 7 at the Kwara Sports Complex, Ilorin.
General Coordinator of the tournament, Tunde Shamsudeen said this year’s edition which is the 7th will be bigger in terms of new innovations, and more competitive due to the teams taking part.
Defending Champions Sunshine Stars will be joined by former League Champions Lobi Stars and Plateau United, Rivers United, MFM FC and Abia Warriors.
Others are Remo Stars, Wasiu Alabelewe FC, FC Ebedei and Kwara United.
Tunde Shamsudeen revealed that there is a cash prize for winners and runners up, adding that there will also be trophies for the best two teams.
Teams will play 4 group matches with the first two teams after the group stages qualifying for the semi finals.
The Ogunjobi Gold Cup is regarded to as the most prestigious Pre Season tournament in the country due to its track records and antecedents.
